NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, has announced the next act that will take part in Melodi Grand Prix 2012.

“I have been a Eurovision fan for as long as I can remember, and Sandra Kim was the great heroine”, stated the next MGP 2012 participant Reidun Saether. “The song is about real girl power and is a love tribute at the same time. It is a song I really love to sing”, she continues.

The ‘song’ she is describing has been penned by Eurovision legendary composer and writer Thomas G:son plus the 2010 Romanian representative Ovi, who came third in Eurovision 2010 in Oslo. Also credited to the song is Tommy Berre who was behind Grethe Svensen’s effort in MGP 2011 “Like Dreamers Do”.

Sæther is a well experienced performer in Muscials and states she can sing high and low, and weak and strong. She explains her song as being “perfect for a vocalist who does not like to limit themselves”. MGP host Per Sundnes reviews Sæther as a singer with “vocal talents of the rare”.

Reidun Sæther becomes the tenth confirmed act for the upcoming MGP after the announcements of Rudi Myntevik, Kim André Rysstad, Marthe Valle, Monica Johansen, Plumbo, Nora Foss Al-Jabri, Isabel Ødegård, Malin and Irresistible.

Earlier this year Stella Mwangi represented Norway in Eurovision 2011 with ‘Haba Haba’ but was unable to qualify to the Eurovision Song Contest final.
