Tooji has just won the Melodi Grand Prix 2012 and will represent Norway in Baku with the song Stay. From a line-up of ten songs, tonight Tooji came out on top in the Norwegian capital. In the superfinal Tooji faced Plumbo, Nora plus the duet of Peter and Bobby. After the results were read, Tooji came out on top with a massive lead over the other three other superfinalists.

Tooji was born in Shiraz, Iran but moved to Norway when he was young. At the age of 16 he began his career in modeling and afterwards began working at MTV Norway where he presented the programs “Super Saturday” and “Tooji’s Top 10”. He made his live music début at the Melodi Grand Prix 2012 to win the chance to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with his entry “Stay”. His first single was called “Swan Song” and was released back in 2008.

The song ‘Stay’ was written and composed by Tooji himself along with Swedes Peter Boström and Figge Boström, who have both written successful entries in Swedish Eurovision selection “Melodifestivalen” in the past. They will also compete with the song “Amazing”, which will be performed by Danny in semi-final four of their selection.
