A month ago Norwegian broadcaster NRK had just seen the curtain come down on a year’s work of organising the Eurovision Song Contest; today they’re starting their next year-long mission. The broadcaster is today calling for songs to enter in the Norwegian pre-selection Melodi Grand-Prix, with the winner going on to represent the country in Germany next year.
NRK is inviting entries from now until September 15th, encouraging Norwegian composers especially- but not ruling out those from overseas. NRK stats that they will also invite some composers and performers to participate in the competition.
Speaking about next year’s competition, MGP “General” Per Sundnes said that the broadcaster is having an “extra-eye on solo artists” and those with “hybrid genres of folk music”, just like Alexander Rybak two years ago. “The only requirement we ask is that you have a strong motivation to participate in the competition. If you have it, I can promise you an experience of a lifetime…” he added.
