Petruska and his song “Help me out of here” have been disqualified from the A Dal competition. Due to accusations of plagiarism, Petruska will not take part in the Grand Final this Saturday. Oláh Gergö will take his place.
Petruska finished in 2nd place in the first semi final. After this result, his song “Help me out of here” was accused of plagiarism. Broadcaster MTVA now ruled that these allegations are true: the tempo, the structure, the build up, the melody and the atmosphere of the song “Help Me Out Here” are very similar to the song of Vampire Weekend “White Sky”.
Emotional weekend for Oláh Gergö
In the Grand Final of A Dal, Oláh Gergö will replace Petruska. Gergö suffered from a severe flue in the lead-up to his semi final performance last Saturday, but decided to perform nevertheless. His voice sounded slightly hoarse, but his vocal performance was strong given the circumstances. The Hungarian jury, however, decided not to send him through. In the deciding televote round, Gergö then lost to metalband Fatal Error.
After his elimination, Oláh Gergö showed his disappointment and emotions. He will now get an extra week to recover, and perform in the A Dal final after all.
