During last weeks’ anual EBU meeting, DunaTV was rejected for membership of the EBU so is therefore ineligible to take part in Eurovision 2011, even though they were approached by the EBU last year to broadcast the contest instead of MTV, the television company that has sent all Hungarian entries to date.
However, according to our sources, Hungary might be back in Eurovision in Dusseldorf with MTV. MTV has undergone structural changes, and as such, they are making a change in their programming. They want to attract younger people, by bringing more music shows, newer movies, etc. This might include a come-back to Eurovision as well.
We believe that Hungary is on the provisional list, however MTV can withdraw until December 20th with no penalty.
Stay tuned for more information.
