Surprising news on this Tuesday: Poland will return to a national final format. New TVP1 channel director Jan Pawlicki, who was installed as a direct result of the new Polish media law, tweeted moments ago that his country will organize a national selection on March 5th.
“Let the viewers decide who will represent Poland in Eurovision! March 5th TVP will hold a qualifying concert,” Pawlicki wrote. He later added that the decision will be made through 100% televoting. Pawlicki was recently appointed as the channel director for TVP1, the channel that broadcasts the Eurovision Song Contest.
In recent years, Poland decided on their Eurovision participation through an internal selection. Both in 2014 and in 2015, these participants brought Poland to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
ESCDaily has been following the Polish selection process closely all season. Our editor Monika Trzebinska published this editorial weeks ago, speculating on a few big names in Polish music industry who submitted songs for the national selection. It is still unknown whether these songs are in fact selected, nor do we know how many songs will take part in the final on March 5th.
Koniec z kapturowymi sądami:) Niech widzowie zdecydują kto wystąpi w konkursie Eurowizji. 5 marca TVP1 zorganizuje koncert eliminacyjny #TVP
