After the first semi final in Portugal, the first 4 finalists have been decided. The Voice winners Deolinda Kinzimba and reigning champion Fernando Daniel qualified and are in the final.
After a years break, Portugal are back with a bang, and they have brought back Festival da Canção as well. Portugal took a year out from Eurovision. Now they are back. They have brought back their selection show, and have given it a much needed revamp.

The top 4 qualifiers from semi final 1 are Salvador Sorobal (22 points), Viva La Diva (20 points), Fernando Daniel (17 points) and Deolinda Kinzimba (12 points).
Portugal have improved their standard since returning to the contest. They have invited some of the top Portuguese composers to write the competing entries.
The final will be held on Saturday 25th February at Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, and the hosts will be Sílvia Alberto and Catarina Furtado.
Rule changes in Portugal
Since Portugal have returned to the contest after a 1 year absence there has been one major change to the rules. The language rule has been dropped which is why we have seen 1 song in semi final 1 in English.
