RTP, the national broadcaster of Portugal, hosted the first semi final of the Festival Da Cancao for the Eurovision 2015. Three acts qualified for the final.
The national final of the country will take place on the 7th of March while the second semi final will take place this Thursday. The presenters of tonights show are Joana Teles and Jorge Gabriel.
A web cast for the show can be found here!
Below you can read our review of the songs in the first semi final. The qualifier songs can be heard on the bottom of the page.
01. Rita Seidi (Sara Tavares / Kalaf Epalanga) – Lisboa, Lisboa
Rita is the first artist to perform tonight! Rita participated at The Voice of portugal last year. She is accompanied on stage by two dancers dressed in orange outfits and four backing vocalists. The song is influenced a lot by african elements, it could be a great soundtrack for a movie.
02. Leonor Andrade (Miguel Gameiro) – Há Um Mar Que Nos Separa
Leonor is next on stage! This entry is a lot different than the previous one. It is more melodic and more “european friendly”, soft rock. Leonor also participated at The Voice of portugal, just like the previous entrant, I think that this entry would stand better in english language.
03. Filipa Batista (Augusto Madureira) – A Noite Inteira
Song number 3, Filipa is accompanied on stage by a male dancer who every now and then comes closer to her. This entry has it all! It has changed a few melodies and musical instruments, in other words, one could say it is a little mixed up. Filipa receives a warm applause, will she make it to the final?
04. Yola Dinis (Nuno Feist / Nuno Marques da Silva) – Outra Vez Primavera
The fourth entrant is another female artist. Yola sings a ballad with very beautiful portuguese music. This song sounds a little dramatic and Yola gives a great feeling to it while she performs. This entry receives the biggest applause so far and the ending is just great.
05. Gonçalo Tavares (Gonçalo Tavares / José Cid) – Tu Tens Uma Mágica
Goncalo is the first – and the last, male artist to perform in tonights show. His performance includes eight dancers and him playing the synth in the middle of the stage. I would say that this entry sounds very 2002. I think that it not relevant to the contest and it wouldn’t make a difference at the portuguese results of the last years.
06. Adelaide Ferreira (Adelaide Ferreira) – Paz
Adelaide is the last artist to per for tonight! She gets a warm applause before even the song starts, vocally she is not so good tonight but the notes are really hard to “hit” . The song is good and I think it deserves a place to the final.
The following entries qualify to the final;
02. Leonor Andrade (Miguel Gameiro) – Há Um Mar Que Nos Separa
04. Yola Dinis (Nuno Feist / Nuno Marques da Silva) – Outra Vez Primavera
05. Gonçalo Tavares (Gonçalo Tavares / José Cid) – Tu Tens Uma Mágica
