Tomorrow afternoon at 15:00 CET, the “Host City Insignia Exchange” will take place, which will also feature the semi-final allocation draw for Eurovision 2011. During the event the city of Oslo will hand over the Eurovision insignia to Düsseldorf, and also give the city officials of Düsseldorf oppertunity to thank the officials in Oslo for their “extensive knowledge-sharing” over the past few months. The event also marks the “official” start of the 2011 season. It will all take place in the Apollo Theater in Düsseldorf, and will be hosted by Judith Rakers; one of the three hosts for Eurovision 2011. Unfortunately there will be no live tv or web broadcast of the event this year, but the draw will be avaliable to follow live on Eurovision.tv (via twitter.)
Below you can see the six pots that have been decided by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). They are all based on voting patterns in the 2010 contest. From the pots all of the participating countries (apart from the “Big 5”) will be allocated into one of two semi-finals. The “Big 5” will also be each allocated a semi-final, which they must broadcast and vote in.
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Israel (Semi-final 2)
Israel has already been allocated a spot in the second semi-final (on Thursday, 12th May) due to the country observing a national memorial day on the day of the first semi-final (Tuesday, 10th May). ARD, the host broadcaster will be voting in the second semi-final due to scheduling reasons.
