In this new rubric at ESCDaily, we will take a look at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. What can we expect from each participating country? In today’s preview we will feature the plans in the Czech Republic.
What do we know so far:
After five years of absence from Eurovision stage, Czech Republic decided to make a comeback to next year’s competition. “We are very excited to have Czech Republic return to the Eurovision Song Contest after 5 years of absence, making the Eurovision Family even more complete for the 60th anniversary edition.” says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Producer of the contest on behalf of the EBU.
It has been decided that for the Eurovision 2015, selection of Czech participant will be made by internal selection with an expert jury picking their entry. The possible names and the date of announcement remains unknown. In a low enthusiastic country such as Czech Republic, speculations do not run high unfortunately.
Chances at Eurovision:
So far Czech Republic participated three times in Eurovision Song Contest. Sadly, it can’t be stated that they had success during those three appearances in this music event: they’ve never passed the semi-finals. The best score this lovely country had was in 2008 in Belgrade with Tereza Kerndlová and “Have Some Fun” song, finishing at 18th place. A year later, Romani band Gipsy.cz did not manage to score one single point.
Manager of International Content Project Center at Czech Television (CT), Markéta Štinglová stated that CT is happy to be back again in the competition, and that after three entries in the previous years they hope to offer Europe a top quality Czech song. Is next year’s Czech performer going to be better luck than it’s previous colleagues?
