In this new rubric at ESC Daily, we will take a look at next years Eurovision Song Contest. What can we expect from each participating country? In today’s preview we will feature the plans in Russia.
What do we know so far
The Russian national broadcaster has not officially announced any plans concerning the selection to ESC 2015 up to now. Although it is rumoured that the next Russian representative will be the winner of the third edition of talent show “Голос (Golos)” which means “The Voice” – the adaptation of the Dutch program “The Voice of Holland”. One member of the jury is the past winner of the Eurovision – Dima Bilan (ESC 2006 and 2008). The final of the show is planned for the December.
The programme “The Voice” has started in the beginning of the September and now we can watch the part called ‘questioning’. Therefore it seems to be quite difficult to predict who is the best for this moment. Talent shows like these usually lead to unexpected names.
Chances at Eurovision
Russia has often achieved high places during ESC. Last year Tolmachevy Sisters with the song “Shine” qualified to the grand final and came 7th. In 2013 the Russian representative Dina Garipova placed fifth in the final. A fact that should be emphasized – Garipova was the winner of the competition “The Voice” in 2012, therefore she was selected to represent her country. This would suggest that Russia has significant chances to place high during Eurovision in Vienna.
