Robin Bengtsson came up with the idea to start his act in ‘I can’t go on’ backstage himself. “I saw it in a video clip of Jason Derulo and thought it was a cool idea that was never done before,” he explains to ESC Daily.
We caught up with one of the main contenders to win the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev at Eurovision in Concert. He does not feel extra pressure, knowing he can give Sweden another top result. “People are saying that but I am not so sure. The bookies are not always right. Anything can happen, there are a lot of interesting songs and acts.”
Same act in Kiev as in Melodifestivalen
Coming up with something new and fresh is not easy. Each delegation always have to wait and see if the act gets approved by the EBU. In the case of Robin Bengtsson, this has happened. “I was not allowed to stay backstage the whole three minutes long, but until the first chorus it is okay. I am allowed to do this act in Kiev as well.”
Sweden takes part in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev. Robin Bengtsson is the opening act of this first show on the 9th of May.
