Robin Bengtsson through while Felix Sandman goes to Andra Chansen

Robin Bengtsson joins The Mamas in the final at Friends Arena in Stockholm next month. Youngster Felix Sandman missed out on a direct ticket, but will get another chance in Andra Chansen. Tonight’s semifinal was the first stage of Sweden’s selection process.

Bengtsson’s song Take a Chance was the first entry to be voted through by the Swedish public. This is the third time he has made it to the Melodifestivalen final, having competed in 2016 and 2017. Of course, Bengtsson won Melodifestivalen in 2017 with his song I Can’t Go On. He placed fifth overall at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev that year.

John Lundvik backup singers

The Mamas were previously backup singers for John Lundvik when he represented Sweden in Tel Aviv last year. Now they are through to the final as their own act. Their song Move had similar inspiration from gospel music as Lundvik’s Too Late for Love.

Felix Sandman & Malou Prytz to Andra Chansen

Felix Sandman and Malou Prytz will have another chance to make it to the stage as they have qualified for Andra Chansen. They will take the stage in Eskilstuna on 29 February for another shot at making it to the final in Stockholm.

Suzi P, OVÖ and Melodifestivalen veteran Sonja Aldén got eliminated during this first semi final.
