Romania will return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev and will use the same format as they have done in recent years. There will be a semi final on the 26nd of February and a national final on the 5th of March.
Broadcaster TVR has released the rules for their Selecţia Naţională a Concursului Eurovision 2017. Potential participants can apply until the 22nd of January.
Last year TVR also used this format to select their song for Stockholm, except for the fact that the semi final and final were held with just one day in between. However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) withdrew the Romanian national broadcaster Televiziunea Română (TVR) from all EBU member services, including the contest, following repeated non-payment of debts. The Romanian entry for the 2016 contest would have been the song “Moment of Silence” written and performed by Ovidiu Anton.
