San Marino: Valentina Monetta returns for her fourth Eurovision attempt

Valentina Monetta will have her fourth attempt at Eurovision in six years. With less than 48 hours until the official deadline to submit songs, San Marino have announced that Monetta will sing a duet with Jimmie Wilson: Spirit of the Night.

SMRTV made the announcement today at 18:00 CET on their official facebook page. Valentina Monetta was the only singer to ever bring San Marino to the Eurovision Grand Final. She did this in 2014 with her song “Maybe”.

Last year, San Marino failed to qualify for the grand final with Turkish born singer Serhat. After only being 12 points away from qualification, SMRTV are hoping that Valentina Monetta and her partner Jimmie Wilson will do a better job in Kiev.

“Spirit of the Night” is another upbeat track which has been penned by none other then Eurovision songwriting legend Ralph Siegel. The song seems suitable to get the fans dancing at the Euroclub.

Ralph Siegel

Ralph Siegel has written one winning entry to date, and that was the winning entry for Germany in 1982. From 2012 until 2015 wrote all the competing songs for San Marino. This included the first three of Valentina’s competing entries. Now he is back in partnership with Valentina and newcomer Jimmie Wilson.
