Sílvia Alberto was born in 1981 and had her television debut in The Disney Club when she was just 19 years old. She left the public broadcaster RTP to work for a private channel, SIC, where she hosted Idols in 2003 and 2004. Sílvia went back to RTP in 2006 and has hosted several talent shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, Masterchef, Top Chef and Portugal’s Got Talent.

It is no surprise that her employer RTP reached out to Sílvia Alberto to host Eurovision 2018. In 2008 she made her debut as a Festival da Canção host and she has been presenting it ever since. Besides that, she was also the RTP Eurovision Song Contest commentator in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
Alberto will host the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest alongside Filomena Cautela, Daniela Ruah, and Catarina Furtado.
