Slovenia: 2013 entry will be chosen internally

National broadcaster RTVSLO has confirmed that the Slovenian entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen internally. The broadcaster has decided to stop their usual preselection, the Evrovizijska Melodija, which was used since 1996 to select the Slovenian entry.

The participation of Slovenia was only confirmed on 15th December last year, this left little time to properly organise a national selection and call for entries to be submitted. Due to these time constraints, plus reduced funding issues, it has therefore been decided that the 2013 Slovenian entry will be chosen internally.

RTVSLO state that the artist and song should be known and made public no later than 15th February. Slovenia will participate in the first half of the First Semi-Final on Tuesday 14th May in Malmö. Last year the country failed to reach the final with the song Verjamem sung by Eva Boto.
