Spain: LeKlein wins wildcard, all six acts for final known

LeKlein has won the Eurocasting wildcard round in Spain. She will perform in the national final Objetivo Eurovisión with her song ‘Ouch!!’ on the 1st of February. With that, broadcaster RTVE revealed the complete final field in Spain.

Vanesa Klein has booked a landslide victory on Thursday, beating Javián and Fruela, the other two contestants in the Eurocasting. The three entries were performed live during a special online streamed final and after a voting period of 15 minutes, LeKlein was presented as the winner.

The eventual representative of Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev will be chosen during the national final, called ‘Objetivo Eurovisión’. That show will be held on the 1st of February, when the winner will be decided by public voting and a jury vote.

Final line-up

RTVE revealed the full line-up of the final when the show was over. Here is the full list of the six competing acts:

  • Maika singing Momento Crítico
  • Manuel Navarro singing Do It For Your Lover
  • Mario Jefferson singing Spin My Head
  • Mirela Cabero singing Contigo
  • Paula Red singing Lo que nunca fue
  • LeKlein singing Ouch!

Mirela’s song Contigo is being co-written by Ovi Jacobsen, who Eurovision fans will know as part of the duet who represented Romania in 2010, singing Playing With Fire, and in 2014 singing Miracle.

A few of these names are recognisable to Eurovision fans. Mirela has competed in the Spanish Junior Eurovision selection in 2004 and in the main Spainish selection from 2007-2009, having finished 2nd in 2004 and 2009. Maika is also no stranger to competing. She entered the Swiss selection this year and made it as far as the Expert Check.
