Spain: Ruth Lorenzo for Eurovision

Mira Quién Va A Eurovisión took place tonight in Barcelona in Spain and after a very close voting result, it was Ruth Lorenzo with the song Dancing in the Rain that won the right to represent Spain at Eurovision 2014 in Copenhagen. Ruth was clearly overjoyed and relieved after what can only be described as a tense, high-energy and emotional evening

The standard of songs in tonight’s Spanish national final was extremely high and Ruth saw off tough competition from Brequette with the song Mas(Run), who won the vote of the Spanish jury. However, receiving a top score from the Spanish televoting saw the two divas tied at the top of the table with 66 points. The rules stated that in the event of a tie, the artist who scored more public votes would be the winner and thus Ruth Lorenzo was declared the winner and will represent Spain.

As a member of the Big 5, Spain have automatically qualified for a place in the grand final of Eurovision 2014 on the 10th of May in Copenhagen. Ruth will be hoping to win the contest for the first time in 45 years since Spain last won Eurovision in 1969. What do you think of Ruth Lorenzo and Dancing in the Rain? Do you think she could bring back some Eurovision glory for Spain? As always we want to hear your opinions!
