Slovakia: TWiiNS to Düsseldorf; March 5th song presentation (UPD)

RTVS have announced that Daniela and Veronika Nízlová aka TWiiNS will be the Slovakian representatives in Düsseldorf with the song “I’m Still Alive”.

After weeks of uncertainty on whether they would participate or not, RTVS decided it was better to pay to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest than to receive a fine. Therefore, RTVS announced they would select internally, and it has become clear today that Daniela and Veronika Nízlová will represent Slovakia this year.

The Nízlová twin sisters, who perform in the Slovak duo TWiiNS, were born on May 15th 1986. Veronika and Daniela debuted on the Eurovision stage back in 2008 backing Tereza Kerndlová with the non-qualifying Czech entry “Have Some Fun”. The duo started to sing before they could speak and cite “Boys” by Italian singer Sabrina Salerno as one of their favourite songs as kids. TWiiNS have released four albums for which they were awarded three Golden and one Platinum records.

The duo will sing a song from Braňo Jančich, Bryan Todd and Sandra Nordstrom called “I’m Still Alive”. In case there are any issues with the selection, Mista and her new single Vendetta will be RTVS’s backup plan.

UPDATE: On March 5th the song will be presented at the Miss Universe Slovakia Contest to be broadcast on STV1 (STV Jednotka).
