Swedish broadcaster SVT has released the set of rules for Melodifestivalen 2019. The biggest preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest will have the same format as in 2018, when Benjamin Ingrosso won the contest out of 28 artists.
The plan is to have the same amount of entries competing as this year, 28, of which 14 will be picked by a jury and the remaining 14 by SVT themselves. Of the 14 entries picked by SVT, one place is already reserved for one of the finalists in the annual competition ”P4 Nästa”.
Even though Sweden booked another top-10 result in Lisbon, ‘Dance You Off’ by Benjamin Ingrosso failed to impress in the televote. The Swedes want to continue their streak of good results at Eurovision, as Christer Björkman states he is “looking for songs in various languages, genres and styles.”
