Former participants David Lindgren (2012, 2013, 2016) and Hasse Andersson (2015) will present the 2017 edition of Melodifestivalen in Sweden. Broadcaster SVT has just announced that in a press conference. Lindgren and Andersson are accompanied by the young and talented blogger Clara Henry.
All three hosts are very familiar with the Melodifestivalen stage. David Lindgren, 34, is switching from contestant to host after performing in this year’s Melodifestivalen final in Stockholm. His third time competing saw him finish in 11th place overall with the song “We are your tomorrow”. His best result was in 2012, when he came fourth with “Shout it out”.
Hasse Andersson is a celebrated and favorite singer among Swedish audiences, with numerous hits on the charts. He performed in Melodifestivalen 2015, coming in fourth place overall that year with his song “Guld och gröna skogar”. The 68-year-old could not hide his excitement at today’s press conference saying, “After 40 years in the entertainment industry, there cannot be a finer way to crown your career.”
Clara Henry, although young at just 22 years old, has already had her own huge successes in the Swedish entertainment industry. She now moves to the main stage after previously serving as a backstage host at Melodifestivalen 2014. Henry is well-known as a blogger and comedian who got her start on YouTube. She currently has over 400,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel. “I am so happy to be working with the world’s best programme again, and even happier to have with me Melfest veterans Hasse and David,” said an overjoyed Henry.
Melodifestivalen begins on 2 February with the first semi-final in Gothenburg. In total there will be four semi-finals and a second chance round (Andra Chansen) for those who do not get voted directly to the final. The final will be broadcasted live from Stockholm on 11 March.
