On Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th of November, next week that is, Swedish national broadcaster SVT will announce which artists will take part in Melodifestivalen next year. “We have a fun, sprawling mix, and we certainly have something for everyone. There are a number of real top songs that it will be awful fun to see how they are received,” says Christer Björkman, executive producer of Melodifestivalen.
Björkman is not giving away any names, but has stated that it will be a ‘male-year’ for Melodifestivalen: “The trend is that there’s a year with a lot of guys as artists. This may be a consequence of a big girl-year last year, when you look back at the top of the final. We really had a lot of great and interesting male artists to choose from this time. Many of them have had to stand aside and wait until next year. People who haven’t heard from SVT by now, can use their songs for other contests.”
There was a total of 2177 potential songs to select for broadcaster SVT. More information on tickets for the show and dates for the semifinals can be found here.
