Sweden: Molly Sandén qualifies, Martin Stenmarck eliminated

Molly Sandén and Frans have qualified for the final of Melodifestivalen 2016 after the fourth and last semi-final in Gävle. Martin Stenmarck (ESC 2005) was eliminated, while Panetoz and Dolly Style will compete in Andra Chansen next week in an attempt to also reach the final.

Tonight’s last semi-final was held at the Gavlerinken Arena in Gävle, hosted by Gina Dirawi and Sarah Dawn Finer.

Among tonight’s competitors were some big names, like Molly Sandén (Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and Melodifestivalen 2009), Martin Stenmarck (ESC 2005) and Linda Bengtzing (Six earlier attempts at Melodifestivalen). Dolly Style and Panetoz also took part in recent years before.

Below are tonight’s artists and songs in the order of their performances (finalists are in bold, Andra Chansen competitors in italics):

  • Eclipse – Runaways
  • Dolly Style – Rollercoaster
  • Martin Stenmarck – Du tar mig tillbaks
  • Linda Bengtzing – Killer Girl
  • Frans – If I Were Sorry
  • Panetoz – Håll om mig hårt
  • Molly Sandén – Youniverse

So Molly Sandén and her song ‘Youniverse’ written by her fiancé Danny Saucedo is still in the running, as is ‘If I Were Sorry’ by Frans. Former ESC participant Martin Stenmarck got eliminated at the beginning of the results sequence.

Dolly Style and Panetoz have to return next week for Andra Chansen. Join us again at ESC Daily, as we watch the show live from Halmstad.
