From today on, SVT welcomes composers to submit entries for the 2016 edition of Melodifestivalen. Songs with at least one Swedish composer can be sent until the 16th of September.
Interested composers can find all the detailed information on THIS LINK on the website of SVT. The winner of Melodifestivalen 2016 will represent the host nation Sweden in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 14th, in Stockholm.
Sweden has built up quite a reputation with their succesful preselection format, making Melodifestivalen “almost a synonym for a national selection” (quote from Sietse Bakker, Event Supervisor EBU). MF-winners Loreen and Mans Zelmerlöw went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest, while many other competitors scored hits on national and sometimes international levels.
Exact dates for the shows have not yet been announced, nor for when the selected songs will be announced. However, it is assumed that the format of four semi finals, followed by Andra Chansen and the Final, will be kept in tact.
