It has been announced that the Georgian-Greek singer Tamta will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Replay”. Local news has been hinting Tamta was selected as early as November.
Tamta first achieved popularity in Greece and Cyprus in 2004 for her participation in Super Idol Greece, in which she placed second. She went on to release several charting albums and singles in Greece and Cyprus. Goduadze became a mentor on X Factor Georgia in 2014, and The X Factor Greece in 2016.
It is not known yet when she will release her song for Cyprus. “Replay” has been written by Greek-Swedish hitmaker Alex P, the man behind Eleni Foureira’s “Fuego” and Ivi Amadou’s “La La Love”. He will be assisted by Sweden-based songwriters Teddy Skye, Viktor Svensson, Kristoffer “Bonn” Fogelmark and Albin Nedler.
Also confirmed in CYBC’s press release is that Sacha Jean-Baptiste will be working on the song’s staging. After staging two Eurovision runner-ups in a row (with “Beautiful Mess” and “Fuego”), will this be her lucky year?
