Tayanna withdraws from Vidbir 2019

The final field for Vidbir 2019, the national selection for Ukraine at Eurovision 2019, has been announced. Tayanna, who took part in the last two years as well, and both times came runner up, was among the 16 acts, until she took the unfortunate decision of withdrawing

The final will take place in the usual format, with the same filming location and with the same presenting team and judging panel, despite recent budgeting issues.

The semi final allocation draw has also taken place.

The Vidbir 2019 semi finals (and the running orders) are as follows:

Semi-final 1:

  1. The Hypnotunez
  2. LETAY
  3.  VERA KEKELIA
  4.  TseSho
  5.  YUKO
  6.  MARUV
  7.  Brunettes Shoot Blondes
  8. BAHROMA

Semi-final 2:

  2. ANNA MARIA
  3. KAZKA
  4. KiRA MAZUR
  5. LAUD

Tayanna was not going to be the only returning act to the Ukrainian national selection show. Brunettes Shot Blondes have also participated. Their previous attempt in 2016 was called ‘Every Monday’, and they places 6th out of 6 in the Grand Final. Laud also competed in 2018. The entry from Laud was called ‘Waiting’ and it placed 4th in the national final show.

Kazka attempted more recently in 2018. Their song was called Dyva, and they placed 6th in the first semi-final, so therefore did not qualify. Kazka is also known from its big international hit “Plakala”.

The statement from Tayanna on her withdrawal from the competition reads as follows:

Sometimes the universe does not give you something, not because you do not deserve it, but because you deserve something else. To confirm this, I feel that right now I have to make this choice.
