The Netherlands: Douwe Bob will go to Stockholm

The Netherlands will be represented by Douwe Bob in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The singer-songwriter has been chosen internal by broadcaster AVROTROS. The news has just been confirmed during the Dutch tv show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’.

It is the fourth year in a row that AVROTROS has picked their artist internal. In recent years, Anouk and The Common Linnets scored a top-10 in the Grand Final. Last year, Trijntje Oosterhuis failed to reach the final.

Douwe Bob rose to fame in The Netherlands when he won the 2012-edition of the television contest ‘The best singer-songwriter of The Netherlands’. He can play on the paino and guitar, and has scored a few small hits in The Netherlands.

He will release his uptempo Eurovision song in February. But in a first reaction, Douwe Bob has said: “I will go to Stockholm to win and I am happy that I get the chance to do it in my own way.”
