Other notable acts in Ukraine are Viktoria Petrik, who we know from both Junior Eurovision and Ukraine’s national selection, NeAngely, a duo that ended up in fifth place at Ukraine’s 2014 selection with their song “Courageous” and Jamala, who rose to fame in 2011 with her Eurovision song ‘Smile‘ which lost out to Mika Newton.

At first Ukraine had plans for just a national final. But Ukrainian public broadcaster UA Pershyi alongside sponsoring partner STB have upgraded their national pre-selection for 2016 with the addition of two semi-finals prior to their national final set for 21st February. The semi finals will take place on the 6th and 13th of February.
In the 2016 Ukrainian national selection, Andrei Danilko will for the first time enter the Eurovision Song Contest scene without impersonating his alter ego, Verka Serduchka. He will be one of the expert jurors alongside Konstantine Meladze and Ukraine’s one and only Eurovision Song Contest winner to date, Ruslana.
