The United Kingdom will not have a televised public selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. In contrast to recent years, the BBC will work together with record company BMG to find their act for Rotterdam.

Since 2016, the BBC televised their national selection. In the years before they that, they always switched between public and internal selections. However, getting on the left side of the scoreboard at the Eurovision final was never the outcome of their strategy.

Ten years ago, in 2009, the United Kingdom finished in the top-5 of the Eurovision Song Contest for the last time. A 11th place in 2011 was their highest finishing position since then. In Tel Aviv 2019 the United Kingdom finished in last place thanks to Michael Rice’s ‘Bigger Than Us’.

Do you think Michael Rice – Bigger than us deserved better than last place for the UK?
