Vladimir Arzumanyan to represent Armenia at JESC 2010

Yesterday evening, the Armenian national selection “Mankakan Evratesil” took place and Vladimir Arzumanyan, with the song “Mama” emerged as the winner from ten participants. Lidushik & Meri Grigoryan placed in second, with only one point between them and Vladimir – despite winning the SMS vote. Vladimir

The jury for the show were the following people: Armina Darbinyan (music expert), Shahen Shahinyan (vice-rector of Yerevan State Conservatory), Arthur Ispiryan (singer, composer), Qristine Pepelyan (singer), Nazeni Hovhannisyan (actress, TV hostess), Gor Sujyan (vocalist “Dorians” rock-band, backingsinger for Eva Rivas)

Vladimir (sometimes under the name “VOV-1”) began to sing from the age of two, and is already the winner of various singing awards within Armenia. However last month before Junior Eurovision, Vladimir made his biggest achievment by making 3rd place in the age 8 – 12 catagory of “Junior New Wave 2010” back in July.

Besides singing, he is a big football fan and has a brown belt in karate, which he demonstrates in his performance at the Armenian national selection. He also spends a lot of time on his computer (much to his Mothers dislike). Some of his favourite cartoons are “The Lion King” and “Braveheart”.

Despite winning the national selection, the first version of his song handed into the broadcaster had to be amended, due to the use of a sample from the Beethoven classic “Fur Elise”.

Once again, congratulations to Vladimir!
