The Voice winners will compete for Germany’s Eurovision ticket

Two former winners of The Voice of Germany will compete with four other young talents for Germany’s Eurovision ticket. The national final “Unser Lied für Lissabon” will have six candidates, whose search for a song starts now.

Meet the 6 candidates for Germany in Eurovision 2018:

  • Natia Todua
  • Ivy Quainoo
  • Michael Schulte
  • Xavier Darcy
  • Ryk
  • voXXclub

Natia Todua won the most recent edition of The Voice, while Ivy Quainoo was the winner of the first edition back in 2012. They are the two biggest names among the participation list. Michael Schulte also participated in The Voice, and afterwards became a YouTube star with many fans in the United States.

Xavier Darcy is a young talent in the singer-songwriter scene, while Ryk earned his stripes mostly behind the scenes as a producer and composer. This preselection, however, he will sing a song for himself. The only band on the list is voXXclub, who describe themselves as “new folk musicians”.

Thomas Schreiber: “Now all we need is the Eurovision songs”

According to Thomas Schreiber, Chief Entertainment for ARD, the next step is the search for songs. “We will contact record labels, composers, the best of the best in our country to help us find songs for these six artists.”

It was already clear that the German national final would take place on February 22nd at 20:15 CET. Location is the Studio Berlin Adlershof in Berlin.
