Waylon announces the Dutch song on March 3rd

The song for The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be announced on the 3rd of March. This has been confirmed in the Dutch talkshow De Wereld Draait Door (DWDD), where Waylon will perform five potential songs in February.

Between the 23rd of February and 1st of March, Waylon will sing a song in the talkshow every day. One of these songs is going to be the entry for The Netherlands in Lisbon. Earlier, broadcaster AVROTROS selected Waylon for Eurovision 2018. He previously took part in 2014, together with Ilse DeLange as The Common Linnets and finished in second place in Copenhagen.

Calm After The Storm was also presented at the talkshow DWDD

Back then, the song ‘Calm After The Storm’ was also performed for the first time in the Dutch show DWDD. After the first acoustic presentation of the song by The Common Linnets, there was a lot of critism in The Netherlands. As funny as it may be now, the song was being ridiculed and found ‘unsuitable for Eurovision’.

This changed in May of 2014, when people saw the actual staging and camerawork by Hans Pannecoucke. ‘Calm After The Storm’ gave The Netherlands their best result since the (last) victory of the country in 1975.
